Brinquinho e Brioso

Brinquinho e Brioso were a duo from Serrinha, Bahia, who started playing together in the late 1960s. José Antônio da Silva, known as Brinquinho, sang and played guitar and harmonica, while Silvério Pereira, called Brioso, handled vocals, bass, and percussion. Their sound mixed sertanejo, forró, and folk, which felt distinct in their rural setting.

Their 1974 album 'Morte do Padre Donizete' included the title track that became their most famous song. Other songs like 'Castigo de São Benedito' and 'Beijo da Traição' also reflected their interest in faith and personal drama.

They released more albums in the 1970s and early 1980s, such as a self-titled record in 1976 and 'Vestido de Prata' in 1981. Their music, often weaving social commentary into traditional melodies, built a loyal audience in Brazil, though details about their later years or exact impact are sparse.
