Britônicos

Britônicos formed in São Paulo around 2004, when Rafa Britânico and Chico Britânico started playing together. Their music pulled from Britpop and Brazilian rhythms, though they never fit neatly into one category. Their debut album came out in 2006, named after the song '28 Minutos' that became their breakout track.

'28 Minutos' was a ballad about a brief romantic encounter that caught on quickly in Brazil. Other songs like 'Abstinência' and 'Adeus, Amigo' also became part of their set. They built a following through touring and live shows, even as some listeners found their mix of styles unusual.

Their lyrics sometimes touched on social issues, which drew both support and criticism. They kept recording and performing, with songs like 'Carícias e Cafunés' and 'Esfinge' appearing in their catalog. The band's sound remained anchored in that initial blend of British and Brazilian influences.
