Broadcast was an electronic duo from Birmingham, England, formed in the late 1990s around Trish Keenan and James Cargill. Their sound pulled from 1960s psych-pop and film soundtracks, built on vintage synthesizers and organs with Keenan's distinctive vocals floating through. Songs like 'Tears In The Typing Pool' and 'Come On Let's Go' have that hazy, slightly melancholic quality people still talk about.

They released a handful of albums between 2000 and 2012, including 'The Noise Made by People', 'Haha Sound', and 'Tender Buttons'. Their work was often described as atmospheric or otherworldly, but it never felt like they were trying to be mysterious for its own sake. The music just had that texture.

Trish Keenan died in 2011. The band's final album, 'Berberian Sound Studio', came out the following year. It's a quiet, fitting end to their catalog, with tracks like 'Message From Home' and 'Accidentals' carrying that same careful, layered sound they'd always worked with.
