A short-lived but loud 2000s band that blended genres into a polarizing sound.
For the full Brokencyde experience, start with 'Booty Call' or '2 Drunk 2 Drive'. That's where their sound feels most raw and unapologetic.
Brokencyde's music, like 'Booty Call', captured a specific moment in the late 2000s when genres were colliding in messy, energetic ways. Their debut album I'm Not a Fan, But the Kids Like It! hit the Billboard 200, showing they had an audience even if critics didn't get it. The crunkcore label stuck because it fit their mix of electronica, pop-punk, and hip-hop.
They formed in Albuquerque in 2007 and put out Freaxxx in 2008. Their 2009 debut album charted, but by 2011's All Grown Up EP, the momentum had faded. The group disbanded in 2013 after a few more releases.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
