Brotherhood of Man formed in 1969 with Martin Lee, Nicky Stevens, Lee Sheridan, and Sandra Stevens. They started out playing clubs and pubs, working on their vocal harmonies. In 1974, songwriter Tony Hiller gave them "Save Your Kisses For Me," which became their breakthrough hit. The song topped the UK Singles Chart and won the Eurovision Song Contest for them in 1976.
After Eurovision, they had a run of successful singles like "Angelo" and "United We Stand." Their sound was straightforward pop with tight vocal arrangements. The original lineup lasted until the early 1980s, when Sheridan and then Sandra Stevens left. The group continued with various other members for a while after that.
