Brothers da Stronda

Brothers da Stronda formed in São Paulo in 2005, with three brothers, Chris, Ulisses, and Nilson, making up the group. They mixed Brazilian funk and American hip-hop into something that caught on locally, and their track 'Fds Strondante' became a kind of anthem for them. The song 'Me Perco E Me Abalo' also shows up in their catalog, giving a sense of their straightforward, rhythmic style.

Their music sometimes drew criticism for its lyrics and themes, which led to some legal trouble and pushback from conservative corners. They kept putting out albums anyway, like 'Fds Stronda' in 2008 and 'Na Ponta da Língua' in 2010, followed by 'Imune' in 2013 and 'Energia' in 2016. These records did well in Brazil and found listeners elsewhere too.

Chris handled vocals and writing, Ulisses worked on beats and production, and Nilson brought his rapping to the mix. Together they built a sound that felt cohesive without smoothing out their edges. Songs like 'Minha Namorada' and 'Strondando a Noite toda' round out what they were doing, direct, beat-driven tracks that didn't try to be anything else.
