The Brothers Johnson were a funk and R&B group formed in Los Angeles in 1972 around brothers Louis and George Johnson. They broke through in 1976 with their album 'Right on Time,' anchored by the single 'Stomp' that topped R&B charts with its tight, danceable groove. That track, along with songs like 'Strawberry Letter 23' and 'I'll Be Good to You,' helped define their sound in the late 1970s.

They followed up with albums like 'Light Up the Night' in 1977 and 'Blam!!' in 1978, maintaining a steady output of polished funk and soul. Their music blended pop accessibility with jazz-inflected arrangements, built around Louis Johnson's prominent bass lines and George's guitar work.
