Archive material and source history
Bruno Westarb formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1970s, led by vocalist Gustavo Moura. They were part of the city's underground scene, playing shows with a raw energy that didn't immediately translate to wider recognition. Their self-titled debut came out in 1981.
Things shifted in 1985 with the release of "Astenia." The song's lyrics, which dealt with depression and searching for some kind of peace, connected deeply with listeners. It became a national hit, moving the band from the clubs to much larger stages almost overnight.
After Moura's death in 1993, the band continued with members like guitarist Ricardo Perez and bassist Jorge Zucchi. They put out albums like "De Profundis" in 1997 and "El Retorno" in 2001, but the focus for most listeners remained on the earlier work, particularly the song that defined them.
