Buchicho

Buchicho was a Brazilian band from Rio de Janeiro that formed in the 1990s, led by frontman Alexandre Kassin. They released four studio albums between 1995 and 2005, starting with their self-titled debut in 1995 and ending with 'Quatro' in 2005. Their sound mixed bossa nova, jazz, and rock in a way that felt fresh at the time, though it also drew some criticism from purists who found it unconventional.

Their lyrics often dealt with raw, personal themes that could stir up conversation. A song like 'Sim, É Como A Flor' tackled love and sexuality with a directness that wasn't common in mainstream Brazilian pop. Other tracks in their catalog, such as 'Lindo Lago do Amor' and 'Paixão', carried that same poetic, sometimes provocative quality.

The band's lineup included Kassin on vocals and guitar, Pedro Sá on bass, Paulo Braga on drums, João Parahyba on keyboards, and João Cavalcanti on guitar. They stayed active through the early 2000s, but never broke through to wide international recognition. Their music has kept a small, dedicated following in Brazil, where their blend of styles still sounds distinctive.
