Buck O Nine formed in 1991, with brothers Mike and J.D. Porter and guitarist Matt Averitt at the start. They later added bassist Troy Gregory and drummer Matt Dealy. Their debut album '18 Wheeler' came out in 1994, and the single '28 Teeth' became something of an anthem for a certain crowd.
They signed with Elektra Records after that first album, but their follow-up 'Twenty-Two Teeth' got delayed by label conflicts. The band's lyrics often dealt with alienation and addiction, which drew some criticism at the time. They put out one more studio album, 'Sustain,' in 2000.
Buck O Nine disbanded not long after that. Their music, especially songs like 'Ah Yeah' and 'Albequerque,' still turns up on playlists for people who remember that particular strain of 90s alternative rock.
