Bury Me Alive formed in Los Angeles in 2002, with Brandon Thomas on vocals and guitar, Jason Murr on bass, and Shane Smith on drums. They put out their first album in 2005, calling it 'Forever' after the song that gave the record its name. That track, a slower, more mournful piece, caught on with listeners and became something of a staple for them.
They followed it with 'Embrace the Failure' in 2008 and 'The Seventh Circle' in 2011. Their sound mixed heavy riffs and melodic hooks, and they developed a following in metal circles. In 2009, Jason Murr left the band and was replaced by Michael Morgan on bass.
