Burzun

Burzum began as a one-man project by Varg Vikernes in Norway in the early 1990s. He recorded under the pseudonym Count Grishnackh, and his debut album 'Burzum' came out in 1991. The track 'Lost Wisdom' from that album became notable in black metal circles for its sparse guitars and eerie atmosphere.

Vikernes was convicted in 1993 for the murder of Mayhem guitarist Euronymous and for arson attacks on churches. These events became part of the story around the music, though Burzum continued as primarily his solo project. He released albums like 'Det Som Engang Var' in 1993 and 'Filosofem' in 1996.

Over time, Burzum's sound evolved while maintaining a solitary approach. Vikernes occasionally worked with other musicians like Samoth from Emperor for live performances, but the recordings remained largely his own work.
