Buzz 82 formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1982 with Paulo "Bobo" Leão on vocals, Ricardo "Ricão" Ridolfi on guitar, André "Andria" Soares on bass, and Alessandro "Alessandrinho" Pontes on drums. Their sound pulled from punk, reggae, and Brazilian rhythms, which earned them a cult following in the city's rock scene.
In 1986 they released their debut album "Até Logo, Jacaré." The track "Bobo da Corte" became an immediate anthem, mixing an infectious melody with sharp social commentary that connected with listeners during a period of political and economic tension in Brazil.
Their lyrics often addressed sensitive social and political issues, which drew scrutiny. In 1988, after a fan attempted to assassinate President José Sarney at one of their concerts, the band faced charges of inciting violence. They kept recording through the 1990s, putting out albums like "Do Bem, Do Mal" in 1991 and "Soluções para Problemas Imaginários" in 1995.
