CZARINA formed in the Czech underground around 2010, with singer Lucie Vagenknechtova, multi-instrumentalist Jan P. Muchow, and drummer Ondrej Kudler. Their debut album 'The Fox's Wedding' came out that same year, introducing a sound that mixed folk and electronic elements with sparse arrangements.
That title track 'The Fox's Wedding' became something of an underground hit, with its haunting melody and atmospheric quality. They followed it with albums like 'The White Horse' in 2012 and 'The Last Embrace' in 2016, which showed them experimenting further within their particular style.
Their music has drawn both admiration and criticism for being dark and unconventional, but they've kept working within that space. In 2020 they released 'The Void,' which continued exploring themes of isolation and loss through their distinctive sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
