Cabeçudos

Cabeçudos formed in the early 1990s in João Pessoa, Brazil, with Ramiro Costa on vocals, Flávio Guedes on guitar, Alexandre Mucuri on bass, and George Luis on drums. Their name was a playful nod to their unconventional approach. They released their self-titled debut album in 1996.

In 1997, the song "Minha Mariazinha" became a breakout hit across Brazil, with its catchy melody and lyrics about lost and found love. Other tracks like "Até As Bola" and "Cheretim" also gained attention. Their sound mixed pop, forró, and reggae, later incorporating rock, hip-hop, and Brazilian folk elements on albums like "Me Leve Pra Lua" (1999) and "O Mundo Cabe na Cabeça" (2003).

In 2003, a music video for their song "Preta" sparked accusations of racism and cultural insensitivity, drawing criticism from conservative circles. The band continued performing and recording despite these controversies, maintaining their core lineup through much of their career.
