Cabezas Flutuantes formed in São Paulo in 1994, started by brothers Gustavo and André Escobar with Felipe Soares. Their music mixed rock and samba with Brazilian folklore and 1960s psychedelia, which gave them a different sound from other bands at the time. They put out their first album, 'Cabeças Flutuantes,' the following year.
Their song 'Pega Pega' got some radio stations upset over what they called explicit lyrics, but it still became a hit for them. Other tracks like 'Quince Pesos' and 'Estrangeiro' show the range in their catalog. They kept recording through the 2000s with albums like 'Flores' and 'A Volta da Cabeça.'
By the 2010s they had developed a dedicated following who appreciated their particular blend of styles. They released 'Flor da Pele' in 2013. The band's work has drawn attention for its experimental edges and the way it pulls from different corners of Brazilian music.
