Cable formed in the early 1990s with JB Townsend on vocals, John Convertino on guitar, and Dave Pirner on bass. They released their album 'South of Delancey' in 1992, which included 'Clinton St. Blues,' a song that got some attention on alternative radio at the time. The album also featured drummer John McEntire.
Their other songs include 'Not Today I'm Not,' 'Human Interest Story,' and 'Feed Mr. Glass.' They put out a few more albums like 'Chords of Canvas' in 1996 and 'Unveiled' in 1999. Matt Sweeney played drums on some of their later work.
There were reports of internal conflicts in the late 1990s that led to a hiatus. They eventually returned to release 'The Long Road Home' in 2003 and 'Beauty in the Breakdown' in 2006.
