Archive material and source history
Cabrazen formed in Medellín around 2002, led by Felipe Peláez with Mateo García. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2004 and included 'Namoradera,' a song that caught on in Colombia with its blend of champeta and reggaeton rhythms.
They put out several more albums through 2012, including 'La Historia de la Niña Boba' and 'Dime la Verdad.' Other tracks like 'Sala de Cinema' and 'Samba Dela' show their range within that Colombian street sound.
Peláez was in a serious car accident in 2007, which paused the band's activity for a time. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism for being too raw, but they kept working in that style.
