Cacau

Cacau formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1999, led by vocalist and composer Roberta Sá. Their debut album came out in 2003, featuring the ballad "Uma Prece" which became their first notable song. The band's sound drew from soul and samba influences, with Sá's lyrics often touching on spiritual themes, as heard in tracks like "Quando Penso em Jesus" and "Luz Divina."

They released several albums over the following years, including 2006's "Viver" and 2010's "Voz." Their music sometimes addressed social issues, which occasionally drew criticism. The band worked with various musicians, including guitarist Diogo Nogueira, and performed with artists like Gilberto Gil.

Cacau's catalog includes songs in Portuguese and Esperanto, such as "Kiam Mi Pensas Pri Jesuo." Their recordings like "Brasil Coração do Mundo Pátria do Evangelho" reflect their thematic range. The group maintained activity through the 2000s with Sá remaining the central creative voice.
