Cães de Mercúrio formed in São Paulo with Tiago "Dinho" Caito on vocals, Ricardo "Rico" Atala on drums, Fábio "Fabinho" Jacovas on guitar, and Danilo "Dan" Sanches on bass. They put out their first album in 1998, followed by Lavagem Cerebral in 2000 and Fúria do Inferno in 2003.
Their music had aggressive guitar riffs and thunderous drumming, with Dinho's vocals delivering lyrics about social inequality and personal struggles. The song "Cães de Mercúrio" became something of an anthem in Brazilian hardcore circles.
They released a live album called Tributo a Dinho in 2010 and returned with Nas Águas de Mercúrio in 2016.
