Cafofo Records came out of Rio de Janeiro with a sound built on baile funk and Brazilian rhythms. Their 2016 debut EP included 'Falsos Amigos,' a track that became something of an underground hit for its direct lyrics about industry hypocrisy.
They followed with the 2018 album 'Baile Funk Não Para' and 2020's 'Favelas,' which focused on the experiences of marginalized communities. Other songs like 'Tanto Tempo Te Esperar' and 'Solidão' show their range within that urban Brazilian framework.
In 2018, they had a public disagreement with a major label over creative control, which reinforced their independent stance. The group includes MC Carol on vocals, with DJ Will and DJ Quebrada handling production and beats.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
