Caïman Fu

Caïman Fu formed in the early 1990s around brothers Jacques and Jean-François de Bettignies, with guitarist Christophe Petchanatz. Their name came from a mythical creature, which fit their unconventional approach. They released their debut album 'Le Carrousel' in 1996, followed by 'À Deux Mille Ans D'ici' in 1998, which included the song that became something of an anthem for them.

Their music mixed traditional folk elements with experimental sounds, and lyrics that often dealt with love and loss. Songs like 'À journée longue' and 'C'est pas d'ma faute' show their range from reflective to more direct statements. Over time, other musicians like Élise Caron and David Aguilar joined the lineup.

They worked with artists including Rachid Taha and Jacques Higelin, which added different textures to their recordings. The band faced some internal conflicts and criticism for their style, but kept making music through albums like 'La Tribu' in 2002 and 'Mémoires' in 2010.
