Caïna

Caïna formed in Italy, with Nicolo Sprea on vocals, Michele Quaranta on guitar, Francesco Attalla on bass, and Nicola Binda on drums. They put out albums like Vespers of the New Messiah in 2006, The Ritual of Dissolution in 2009, Lucifer Ascendant in 2015, and Chronos in 2019.

Their music leans into doom metal's weight but doesn't stick to one lane. Songs like Constantine the Blind and Hideous Gnosis move between heavy passages and more atmospheric, melodic stretches. The lyrics, mostly written by Sprea, often circle themes of darkness and isolation.

Some listeners in the metal scene have found their approach unconventional or too far from traditional sounds. They've kept at it anyway, letting the records speak for themselves without much fuss about fitting in.
