Archive material and source history
Cairo Neviton formed in São Paulo in 1997 as a quartet. They started playing churches and small venues, building a following before releasing their debut album 'O Vencedor' in 2002. That record helped them reach a national audience in Brazil.
Their second album, 'Ao Teu Lado Jesus,' came out in 2004. The title track became a staple in Brazilian Christian music, with its straightforward message and melodic rock arrangement. Songs like 'Jesus doou' and 'Na Palavra' followed similar patterns of devotional lyrics set to accessible guitar-driven arrangements.
In 2006, bassist André Luiz de Oliveira was arrested for drug possession, which created some public scrutiny. Around the same time, drummer Jonathan Marins left the group. They continued performing and recording with new members after that period.
