Cairobi formed in 2015 in Timrå, Sweden, with Alexander Sjödin on vocals and guitar, Christian Dumky on bass, and Alexander De Costa on drums. Their debut album 'The Shadow of the Sun' came out in 2018, and the song 'Ghost' from that record got some attention for its moody, atmospheric quality.
They followed up with 'Rêverie' in 2020 and 'Ancient Shadows' in 2022. While they kept that hazy, introspective feel, those later albums started working in some folk and electronic textures alongside their rock foundation. Other tracks like 'Zoraide' and 'Perfect Strangers' show that same preference for layered, drifting arrangements.
In 2019, the band had some kind of legal disagreement with their former label, which seems to have been resolved without stopping their output. They've kept a fairly low profile since, releasing music on their own schedule without much of the promotional machinery that often comes with it.
