Calacote came together in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with Sammy Sosa on guitar, Enmanuel Jiménez on percussion, and Luis "Lobo" Rosario on bass. Their sound is built around that rhythmic foundation, with Sosa's guitar lines weaving through the grooves.
They first got wider attention with the 2015 single "Intercambio," which featured rappers Akapellah and Jessy Terrero. That track anchored their debut album of the same name.
In 2017, they released the album "La Calle," which took on more social themes. Around that time, some of their lyrics, like those in the song "Ay, Dios Mio," drew criticism for being too suggestive, though the band maintained they were just reflecting reality as they saw it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
