Calça Justa formed in Porto Alegre in the early 1990s with Nina Becker on vocals, Márcio Fabiani on guitar, Fernando Beck on bass, and André Becker on drums. Their debut album 'Rock 'n' Roll' came out in 1993 and found an audience beyond their hometown.
Their songs often mixed rock and Brazilian rhythms while addressing social themes. 'Agora Você Resolve' from 1998 became particularly well-known for its message about women's empowerment. They followed it with albums like 'Fuscão Preto' in 1999 and 'Acústico MTV' in 2001.
In 2002, the band faced criticism over the music video for 'Fuscão Preto,' with some accusing them of promoting homosexuality. They defended the work as part of their broader approach to music about tolerance. They kept recording through the 2000s, putting out 'Onze' in 2009.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
