Cales

Cales came out of the Scottish Highlands with a sound built on pounding riffs and soaring vocals. Their debut single "Highlander" became their calling card, a thunderous anthem that caught attention right away. The band's lineup included Ross Kennedy on vocals, Steve Brown on lead guitar, Simon Gardner on rhythm guitar, Martin Duncan on bass, and Ian Rankin on drums.

They released their first album, Clash of the Titans, in 2001, which featured "Highlander." That was followed by Warrior's Call in 2004 and Steel and Fire in 2007. Their songs often carried titles like "Over The Abyss Of Life And Death" and "Spiritual Bond," suggesting a thematic weight to their work. In 2006, they faced some accusations of plagiarism over a song called "The Chosen," but they maintained their innocence.

Their later albums included The Last Stand in 2010 and a greatest hits collection called Legacy in 2015. While "Highlander" remained their most recognizable track, other songs like "100 Suns" and "A Piece Of My Life" filled out their catalog. The band's music blended hard rock with elements of their Scottish background, creating a sound that found its audience without needing to dominate charts.
