California Freeways formed in 2013 with Michael Ramey on lead vocals and guitar, Andy White on guitar and vocals, Ethan Parr on bass, and Will Kennedy on drums. They took their name from the California freeways, which gave them a loose theme for their music. Their debut album came out in 2015, titled 'Waves' after the song of the same name.
That song 'Waves' got some attention as a dreamy, introspective track. The band put out two more albums after that, 'Distance' in 2018 and 'Afterlife' in 2021. Ethan Parr left the group in 2017, which changed their lineup and sound a bit. They've kept going as an indie rock band from Los Angeles.
