Cali Kings

Cali Kings formed in East Los Angeles in the 1980s, with Big Zeke and Paco as MCs. They were part of a wave of artists bringing hip-hop to Latino communities in Southern California. Their debut album 'Cali Kings Part 1' came out in 1991, giving the group its name and establishing their sound.

Their music reflected life in their neighborhoods, which sometimes drew attention from authorities who weren't comfortable with what they were saying. They kept recording through that, putting out albums like 'Made in L.A.' and 'Tha City Still Reign' later in the decade.

The group included Mr. Shadow and G-Style alongside Zeke and Paco. They worked with other West Coast artists who were coming up around the same time, including Cypress Hill and Snoop Dogg. For a lot of listeners in the 90s, their records became something you'd hear at parties and in cars throughout LA.
