Calibre formed in Manchester in 1994, with Dominic Montague and Will Saul starting out with a shared interest in jazz and dub. Their track 'Where is my mind' became a recognizable piece of their atmospheric sound, which often carried a melancholic tone. They put out albums like 'Second Sun' in 1998 and 'The Middle Way' in 2001, working with the Ninja Tune label for a time.

Their music didn't stick to one lane, incorporating elements that could shift from track to track. Songs like '2 Corpos' and 'Antidote' show that range, moving through different textures without losing that introspective feel. They kept releasing material into the 2000s, with albums such as 'Overflow' in 2006 and 'Inside the Outside' in 2010.
