Calibre 3

Calibre 3 formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 1990s with vocalist Marcia Castro, guitarist Luiz Claudio, and bassist Cacau de Leite. Their debut album came out in 1996, sharing its name with the track "Fruto e Pomar" that became their biggest hit. That song reached the top of Brazilian charts and gave the band its first real recognition after some lean early years.

They kept recording through the late 1990s and 2000s, putting out albums like A Sombra do Vento in 1998 and Pedra Azul in 2002. Other musicians like keyboardist Andre Lemos and drummer Roberto Lins played with them at different times. Their sound drew from Brazilian styles like samba and bossa nova, though some critics thought they leaned too commercial as their popularity grew.

Calibre 3 released seven studio albums in total, the last one simply called Calibre 3 in 2010. Their music has appeared in television and films since then, but the band itself hasn't been especially active in recent years. What people still remember is that 1996 single "Fruto e Pomar," a ballad about love that became their signature piece.
