Calico Jack

Calico Jack formed in the 1990s with Alex Dezen on vocals and guitar, Aaron Elliott on bass, Ben Massarella on guitar, and Mike Reed on drums. They put out their self-titled debut in 1996, followed by '27 Exposures' the next year. That 1997 album, with its title track and songs like 'Do You Like Me, Yes No Maybe,' became their most recognized work, known for its raw energy and melodic hooks.

After 'The Good Times Are Killing Me' in 1999, the band took a hiatus in the early 2000s due to personal conflicts and label issues. They returned with 'True North' in 2002 and released 'The Outer Banks' in 2004. Their music often blended alternative rock with punk and folk touches, and tracks like 'Gene Kelly Movie' and 'High as Starlight' showed their range from introspective ballads to more driving material.

While they never broke into the mainstream, their catalog, especially '27 Exposures,' found a lasting place with fans who appreciated their unpolished approach and emotional honesty.
