Califa Thugs came out of Sacramento in the early 1990s. Their debut album 'Thuggin' n' Plottin'' from 1993 had the track 'Back 2 Bust Again,' which got some attention for its straightforward West Coast sound.

They put out a couple more records like 'The Grand Finale' in 1994 and 'C-Thugs: The Hard Way' in 1996. The group included Ricky White, Kelly Watson, Todd Shaw, and Reggie Young. Other songs in their catalog include 'Buckles Up' and 'Controlamos Las Calles.'

By the late 1990s, they had stopped working together. Some of their lyrics drew criticism at the time for being harsh.
