Calva Louise is a duo from Sydney, Australia, with Jess Millichamp on vocals and guitar and Ethan Sawtell on bass and vocals. They started in 2015 after meeting at a music workshop. Their sound pulls from folk, indie rock, and dream pop, heard in songs like 'Camino' and 'Trial'.
In 2017, they put out their debut EP 'Summer Days and Nights,' which got some attention for its ethereal melodies and Millichamp's vocals. A track from it became a sleeper hit, picking up streams online. They followed that with another EP called 'Waves' in 2019.
Some of their work, like the song 'Other Self,' has sparked mixed reactions for its raw lyrics, but they've kept a steady presence in the indie scene without much drama. Their music stays grounded in that blend of styles they started with.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
