Caminho Sagrado

Caminho Sagrado formed in Brazil in 1974, with sisters Katia, Patricia, and Suely Mattos, along with their cousin Silvia. Their early performances came during a period of political and social upheaval in the country. The band's name translates to 'Sacred Path,' and their music often carried messages of peace and spirituality, which sometimes met with skepticism or hostility.

In 1979, they released the album 'Caminho da Luz,' which included the song 'Paz.' That track became particularly well-known for its message of non-violence. The band faced criticism and threats from some conservative groups around that time, but they continued performing. Other songs in their catalog include 'O poder de Deus' and 'A gente muda.'

They recorded several albums with similar thematic titles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, like 'Caminho do Fogo' and 'Caminho do Amor.' The original members played vocals and various instruments, with Katia on guitar, Patricia on bass, Suely on drums, and Silvia on keyboards. The lineup changed over time, but the group maintained its focus on spiritual themes.
