Campo de Almas formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1980s, with Andrés Ciro Martínez on vocals and guitar, Daniel Marbello on lead guitar, Alejandro Sokol on bass, and Javier Herrlein on drums. Their 1989 album 'El Diablo' gave them their most recognizable song, which became something of an anthem in Argentina despite, or perhaps because of, its lyrics that challenged religious authority.
The band's music had a raw, emotional quality that connected with listeners. Songs like 'Adiccion' and 'Ansiedad' from their catalog carried that same direct energy. They released several albums through the 1990s, including 'Tanguito' in 1992 and 'Caballo Loco' in 1995.
They kept performing and recording, with a live album from Estadio Obras in 1997. The group maintained a following through lineup changes and periods of inactivity.
