Campo Grande e Corumbá formed in 1993 with four musicians from Mato Grosso do Sul: Jairo José, Ivan Conceição, João Batista, and Rildo Felix. They took their name from two cities in the region, Campo Grande and Corumbá. Their debut album came out in 1997, sharing its title with the track 'A Pegada É Diferente,' which became their most recognizable song.
That album's success brought them wider attention in Brazil. They went on to record several more albums, including 'Nação Viola' and 'Terra Prometida,' before releasing what appears to have been their final one, 'O Mundo Caiu.'
Their sound drew from Brazilian traditions but had a contemporary feel that connected with listeners. Alongside 'A Pegada É Diferente,' songs like 'Feliz Aniversário' and 'Lascou de Vez' became part of their repertoire. The group's run seems to have ended after their fourth studio album.
