Canal Magdalena

Canal Magdalena formed in Mexico City in the early 2000s with Magdalena on vocals, Pablo on guitar, and Mateo on drums. Their debut album 'Sueños Nocturnos' came out in 2005, featuring the title track that gained some attention. They worked in a space between indie rock, folk, and electronica, though the specifics of that blend were always a bit loose.

Their second album 'Aprender a Amarte' arrived in 2008 and included the song 'Enseñame,' which became their most recognizable track. It's a ballad that connected with listeners, though calling it a national anthem might overstate things. They followed with two more albums: 'El Rostro del Silencio' in 2012 and 'El Vuelo de los Ángeles' in 2016.

Magdalena's lyrics sometimes drew criticism from conservative groups, and their performances occasionally faced protests. They kept making music through that, with songs like 'Todo Ha Cambiado' and 'Pieles' appearing in their catalog. The band's output slowed after 2016, and they haven't released new material in several years.
