Canal Terror came together in Lahore during the 1990s, when heavy metal was an unusual sound in Pakistan. The band started as Cannibal Terror before shortening the name. Their early lineup included Faraz Anwar on vocals, Sameer Abbas and Usman Riaz on guitars, and Waqar Ahmed on drums.
Their debut album was called '100 Maan,' which included the track '100 Mann.' The music drew from American and British metal bands like Metallica and Judas Priest, but filtered through their own experience in Lahore. This put them at odds with some conservative elements in Pakistani society at the time.
They followed that first record with albums like 'Loyal to Evil,' 'The Hate Album,' and 'The Fourth.' Other songs in their catalog include 'Abschuss,' 'Australien,' 'Bauch Vom Saufen,' and 'Bonn-Duell.' They were one of the first groups in Pakistan to work consistently in that heavier guitar-driven style.
