Canções de Saturno formed around singer-songwriter Rafael Ferreira, guitarist André Muniz, and keyboardist Márcio Santilla. Their 2010 debut album introduced a sound that drew from Ferreira's interest in space and celestial themes, which continued through later releases like 2013's 'Constelações' and 2018's 'Anéis de Saturno'.

That 2018 album gave the band its most recognizable song, 'Anéis de Saturno,' which became something of a calling card alongside other tracks like 'Atenciosamente, Eu' and 'Azuis.' Their music tended to avoid straightforward genre categories, which sometimes made them a tricky fit for conventional industry channels.

They worked as a trio through at least three studio albums, with Ferreira's writing providing a consistent thread. The songs often had a spacious, melodic quality that matched their astronomical references, though they never became strictly conceptual about it.
