Candido Maria was a Greek musical group that formed in the early 1960s. Their name combined references to a bouzouki player named Candido and the common Greek name Maria. They released their debut album in 1967.
Their song "Les Enfants Du Pirée" (The Children of Piraeus) became popular in Greece. They also recorded tracks like "Cou-couche panier," "Granada," and "J'ai Deux Amours."
Some of their lyrics and public appearances drew criticism from more conservative parts of Greek society at the time. They continued performing despite occasional protests at their concerts.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
