Canides formed in the early 2000s around frontman Asier Etxeandia. Their music drew from various backgrounds, including classical and heavy metal, which gave them an eclectic sound that didn't settle into one genre. They worked with guitarist Iñigo Coppel, bassist Josué Vergara, and drummer David González.
Their songs like 'Cafajeste' and 'O Oitavo Neurônio' showed their range, moving between rock, punk, and folk elements. The band's lyrics were often raw and explicit, which sometimes drew criticism, but they kept writing about life as they saw it.
Etxeandia's theatrical performances became a signature part of their live shows. They continued releasing music that felt unpredictable, avoiding the polished sound that might have made them more commercially accessible.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
