His 1972 album "Incomparável" brought him wider recognition, with the title track becoming particularly well-known. He worked with musicians like guitarist Luiz Melodia and percussionist Naná Vasconcelos, and performed with his Grupo do Cantor Albino Cruz.
Cruz was also involved with community organizations and social causes. He died in 2018 at age 88.
