Archive material and source history
Cantor André Luiz is a Brazilian gospel singer from São Paulo. He started singing in church choirs as a child, drawing from traditional hymns and R&B. His debut album came out in 2001, titled after what would become his best-known song, 'Deus É Bem Maior.'
That title track gave him national recognition in Brazil's gospel scene. He followed it with albums like 'Milagre' in 2003 and 'Palavra Viva' in 2005. Other songs in his catalog include 'Cantando E Chorando' and 'Deus Está Aqui.'
In 2010, he faced plagiarism allegations over one of his songs, which he denied and was eventually cleared of. His band has included guitarist Rodrigo Mendes, bassist Gabriel de Almeida, drummer Ricardo Pereira, and backing vocalist Juliana Cardoso.
