Capitão Além formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil during the mid-1980s. The band's lineup included Túlio Régis on lead vocals and guitar, Luciano Figueiredo on keyboard and vocals, Rafael Malenotti on bass and vocals, and Jonatas Panzera on drums and percussion.
Their 1993 album "Doce Dezembro" brought them wider attention, with the title track becoming particularly well-known. They released several other albums including "Biologia" in 1995, "Água" in 2000, "Sertão" in 2008, and "Norte" in 2012.
In 2018, the band had a public disagreement with Porto Alegre city officials over a cancelled concert. They've continued making music that draws from rock, reggae, and Brazilian folk traditions, with songs like "Fim do Túnel" and "O Monte Azul" among their recorded work.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
