Capitão Moby Dick formed in São Paulo in 1992, led by vocalist and lyricist Sergio Serra. Their debut album, 'Música para Surfistas,' came out in 1995 and found a solid audience. The following year, their second album 'O Grande Naufrágio' included the track 'Radiola,' which became widely popular in Brazil.
Serra's lyrics often touched on social issues, which sometimes drew criticism from conservative corners. The band's lineup has shifted over time, with current members including Luís Henrique Zuza on drums, Marcelo Cabral on bass, Paulo Junqueira on guitar, and Bruno Bili on keyboards. They've put out about ten studio albums, including 'A Noite do Tubarão' in 1998 and 'Destino: Rio-Salvador' in 2000.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
