Capleton, born Clifton George Bailey III in West Kingston in 1967, started performing on local sound systems in the late 1980s. His debut album 'Lovers Paradise' came out in 1991, and he's since released records like 'Prophecy,' 'I-Testament,' and 'More Fire.'
His songs often address social issues and spirituality, with tracks like 'Hit Maker,' 'That Day Will Come,' and 'Bun Dem Everyday' reflecting his style. The Firehouse Crew, his band, has included musicians such as drummers DanJah and Sam Clayton, bassists Mikey Jarrett and Devon James, and guitarists Earl 'Chinna' Smith and Tony Chin.
In 2008, Capleton was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm. His lyrics have drawn criticism at times, but he maintains his focus on empowerment.
