Archive material and source history

Capone & Noreaga came out of Queensbridge in New York in the mid-90s. Their debut album 'The War Report' arrived in 1997, anchored by the single 'L.A., L.A. (Remix),' which featured Nas and Mobb Deep. The track became a street anthem, its hard-edged sound capturing a particular New York moment.

Capone, born Kejuan Muchita, and Noreaga, born Victor Santiago Jr., built their music around narratives from their neighborhood. Songs like 'All We Got Is Us' and 'Anything Goes' detailed the realities they knew. Their work was interrupted at times, including a period when Capone served a prison sentence starting in 1996.

They released several more albums, including 'The Reunion' in 2000 and 'Channel 10' in 2002, which incorporated some reggae and R&B elements. After a hiatus, they returned with 'Think Differently' in 2009. Their early records, especially 'The War Report,' remain a touchstone for a certain strain of East Coast hip-hop.
