Cardiac Jacket formed in London in 1976, with John 'Wooden' Gladstone as their frontman. Their debut album 'Worthwhile' came out in 1978 and found an audience in the punk scene. The band's lineup included bassist Keith 'K' Llewellyn, guitarist Tim 'Bluff' Moore, and drummer Mike 'Tuba' Turner.
They released several albums after that, including 'The First Amendment' in 1979, 'Merely Existing' in 1982, and 'Fragile' in 1985. Their music mixed punk with reggae rhythms and experimental noise, and Gladstone's lyrics often took political and anti-establishment positions.
Cardiac Jacket faced legal issues and venue bans during their time together, partly due to their confrontational performances and Gladstone's outspoken nature. The band broke up around 1988 after internal conflicts and Gladstone's personal struggles.
